This is both a coronavirus meme, and an example of a distracted boyfriend meme.This meme is pretty funny. The thing that makes this a funny meme is that the boyfriend in the image represents the media in the US, and the media always wants to show stories that will get them the most viewers, so instead of a boring story about how covid has continued to grow in the number of people that it infected, it is now showing fresh new stories about how protests are growing violent.

This meme is basically an insult directed at the media - saying that the media is fickle, and that it mostly just wants to cover fresh topics that people are particularly interested in, and will sometimes drop topics that (even if they are killing more people) are reaching a steady state.
