The beatings will continue until morale improves

This is a humorous statement used in office buildings everywhere. The humor is derived from the absurdity of the statement. If someone expects morale to improve through the use of beatings (to me) it seems like the only way for that to actually occur is if the people that we are talking about are masochistic.

This statement is made when people are musing (or fuming) about how out of touch management are with the ordinary worker. They do things that make the employees disgruntled in a vain attempt to make the employees happier.
